As you flip through magazines or online advertisements and admire the adorable children featured, you might find yourself wondering how to get your own child into modeling. The good news is that there isn't one specific "look" that casting directors are after. While an attractive child is definitely a plus, the need for diverse appearances is constant. In fact, many advertisers specifically seek out average-looking, relatable children. Over the years, we've had the pleasure of working with kids who have all sorts of wonderful smiles.
No! Just to clarify our commission structure, we operate on a 15% commission which is applied after you have received payment for a job.
It's also worth noting the benefits of working with licensed talent agents. They can negotiate contracts on your behalf and are bound by a work ethics code, as well as various rules and regulations.
Regarding our digital model comp and profile, which you can see in the attached sample, please understand that this is an optional service we offer as an alternative to the traditional paper comp card. It is not a requirement to be represented by Who's That Baby.
If you choose to utilize the digital comp and profile service, there will be a monthly fee of $20. This fee covers monthly updates and editing to your photos.
Yes. We collaborate on various projects and maintain professional relationships with clients, casting directors, producers, and directors nationwide. The amount of work available for you will also depend on the opportunities within your local market.
We want to provide you with an honest and realistic understanding of baby modeling. Please be aware that there are no guarantees of work or bookings for your child. Our intention is not to discourage you, but rather to be transparent with all new parents.
Your expectation should be to have fun, enjoy the experience and offer your child opportunities to build confidence in social settings. And of course secure job bookings that could contribute to a college fund. Relying solely on baby modeling to get rich isn't realistic. Typically, young children and babies work for no more than two hours at a time.
Regarding compensation, catalog and print work generally ranges from $125 to $250 per hour. Larger print jobs may also offer rates up to $250 per hour. Additionally, if an image is used for broader purposes such as billboards, posters, or packaging, there may be extra usage fees and compensation. Rates for television commercials differ depending on whether they are for regional or national broadcast.
Please keep in mind that the pay scales mentioned above are base rates, and each job can vary based on the specific needs and budget of the client.
Who's That Baby is a fully licensed boutique agency specializing in print work. We have a long history of successful collaborations with clients who consistently rely on us for their casting and booking needs.
When clients have a project, they reach out to us with a breakdown. This includes job details, the pay rate, usage rights, and the specific type of child they are seeking. We then carefully review our talent roster and suggest models who we believe are a strong match for the client's requirements.
Given the industry's shift towards digital casting platforms, accelerated by technological advances, we utilize a digital comp and profile submission system. This allows us to efficiently present our talent not only locally but also in other markets. A digital comp and profile typically includes five to six photos along with the model's essential information such as name, age, hair and eye color, and sizes. Think of it as a modern, digital version of a modeling business card, providing casting directors and clients with a quick and easy way to assess if a model is suitable for their project. Digital submissions have largely replaced paper comps and are now the preferred method for most clients.
Please note that our digital model comp and profile (sample) is an optional service we offer as an alternative to traditional paper comps. It is not a requirement to be represented by Who's That Baby.
Should you choose to utilize the digital comp and profile service, there is a monthly fee of $20, which covers monthly updates and editing to your photos.
While there are no upfront fees to join our agency, we want to clarify that parents are responsible for covering their child's expenses. These typically include costs associated with printing or digital casting platforms, gas and other similar miscellaneous items.
Like any business, having the right tools can contribute to success in this industry. Here's some information regarding essential materials:
For children in this age group, professional photography is not usually unnecessary due to their rapid growth and changes. Clear photos taken by a friend or family member are perfectly suitable for submissions.
However, you will need to obtain model composite cards (comp cards). These are specialized marketing materials for models. You can easily find professional printers online who specialize in creating these cards. A good quantity of comp cards generally costs around $100, and we're happy to help you select the best photos and layout for them.
While traditional paper comp cards are less common with current technology, they remain an option for you.
Our agency also utilizes a digital comp and profile casting platform to submit talent for opportunities both locally and in other markets. A digital comp and profile includes 5 to 6 photos along with the model's essential information, such as name, age, hair color, eye color, and sizes. Think of it as a modeling and acting version of a business card, providing casting directors and clients with a quick way to assess if a model is a good fit for their project.
Most agencies now favor this digital approach over paper comps, and clients generally prefer the convenience of digital submissions.
Given how quickly children in this age range can change their appearance, we do require new photo updates approximately every 4 to 6 weeks to keep their profiles current.
Should you choose to use our digital comp and profile service (sample), there is a monthly fee of $20. This fee covers the cost of monthly updates and editing of your photos to ensure your child's profile remains current.
Please understand that the digital model comp and profile is a service we offer as an alternative to the standard paper comp card. Utilizing this service is entirely optional and not a mandatory requirement for being represented by Who's That Baby.
While we do not require any upfront fees to join, parents are responsible for covering their child's costs, which may include professional photography, printing, casting platforms and other incidentals.
Just like in any business, having the right tools is essential for success in this industry. For children in this age group, professional photographs are generally recommended. You are welcome to choose any photographer you prefer. We advise against making a significant investment until your child begins working. Once you have the photos from the shoot, we would be happy to help you select the best images.
Regarding acting or modeling classes, we generally do not believe they are necessary when first starting out.
When considering children in this age group, we take several factors into account:
* Communication skills
* Modeling experience
* Participation in school plays or any acting experience, if interested in acting or commercials
* School hours and availability
* For girls ages 14 and up interested in modeling, there is a height requirement of 5'7" to 6'0".
If we feel your child is a good fit, we will contact you to schedule an appointment. Please note that we do not accept walk-in visits.
